Class DOJO

Class DOJO is our primary form of schoolwide communication!!!

This year, the entire middle school is implementing the classroom management tool called ClassDojo. ClassDojo is a web based program which allows teachers to track students’ behaviors (positive and negative) easily and efficiently. The program is based on points, and students can be given positive points for things like being on task, being respectful, participating, or working hard. On the other hand, points can be taken away if students are off task, talking out, or unprepared. After students have been added to the system, there is a student access code we will give to each student so they can log on to the website. All you need to do is use the parent access code to get signed up. Our hope is that this well help you better understand the progress of your student’s behavior on a weekly basis.

PBS: Positive Behavior Support

PBS, which stands for Positive Behavior Support is a proactive systems approach to put behavioral and social strategies in place for all children while building support for those at risk.

What is the focus of PBS?

School wide PBS focuses on establishing school
  environments that support the long-term
success of effective practices. Consistent across the whole school.

Mule Kicks—individual student awards

Mule Kicks are given to students for following the building expectations: being Responsible, Safe, and Respectful. The student will write his/her name on the back of the kick in pen. Students should not earn more than 5 kicks at a time for a single reward. Mule Kicks will start the first day of school.

Class Kicks– classroom awards

Class Kicks are given out when the entire class works together to follow the expectations: being Responsible, Safe, and Respectful.  Kicks can be given out by any staff member in any area of the school.

CKH: Capturing Kids Hearts

Capturing kids hearts is a program we have here at PBMS. It helps with following a contract, being ready to speak to adults and taking responsibilities for their own actions. To implement CKH every morning teachers will shake students hands and greet them. We also make a social contract as a class to follow. A social contract is a list of words the students use to describe how they wish to be treated in our classroom.
